The Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) is the professional and examining body for patent attorneys in the United Kingdom. As a membership organization, CIPA represents and supports IP professionals through advocacy, education, and regulatory oversight.

Client Challenge

CIPA’s legacy infrastructure was approaching end-of-life, with growing concerns around data security, compliance, and operational reliability. Their VMware-based environment lacked redundancy and did not provide the visibility or control needed to manage sensitive member data in line with modern regulatory requirements. Additionally, the in-house team required external support to manage and modernise the environment.

Partner Solution

Dudobi developed a secure AWS platform tailored to CIPA’s operational model and data sensitivity requirements. The new cloud architecture replaced physical servers and network hardware with a virtualized environment using EC2 and RDS. Key workloads were consolidated and migrated into a secure VPC structure with private and public subnets.

The solution included centralised monitoring, automated backup, and fine-grained access control. Security best practices were applied across identity management, logging, and compliance tracking to align with UK GDPR, ISO 27001, and other relevant standards.
