SA-Venues has been South Africa's go-to platform for unique accommodation since 1999. For over two decades, they have connected travellers with everything from boutique guesthouses in the Cape Winelands to safari lodges in the Kruger region. Their platform is the digital heartbeat of South Africa's hospitality sector, relied upon daily by thousands of travellers and accommodation providers across the country.

Since partnering with Dudobi, our hosting has been seamless and dependable, which is critical for a platform like SA-Venues.com. Their support is fast, knowledgeable, and solution-driven.

Our migration was smooth, well-managed, and far less disruptive than we anticipated. Their managed services give us complete peace of mind, and their response times and technical expertise are consistently outstanding.

— Christine Searle, Director | SA-Venues.com

The Challenge

When SA-Venues' hosting provider announced it was closing, the clock started immediately. Their existing infrastructure offered no scalability, no redundancy, and no fallback position. The timing could hardly have been worse: any period of downtime would directly impact thousands of travellers mid-booking and accommodation providers whose livelihoods depended on the platform staying live. For a business that had spent 25 years building trust with South Africa's hospitality sector, the prospect of going dark, even briefly, was simply not an option. They needed a migration partner who could move fast without cutting corners.

The Solution

Dudobi assessed SA-Venues' environment immediately and designed a comprehensive AWS architecture built for both urgency and longevity. Rather than applying quick fixes to buy time, the team built a platform designed to serve SA-Venues for the next 25 years. A pilot environment was stood up first, allowing potential issues to be identified and resolved before the full migration began. CloudFront was implemented for content delivery and web application firewall protection, EC2 web servers were distributed across multiple subnets for redundancy, and AWS Backup, S3, GuardDuty, Security Hub, and CloudTrail were all put in place to ensure the new environment was as secure as it was resilient. Every stage of the migration was executed in close collaboration with SA-Venues' own development team, ensuring continuity of service throughout.

The Results

SA-Venues completed the migration within their required timeline without a single moment of downtime. Not one booking was lost. Not one accommodation provider lost access to their listing. The platform that emerged from the migration is more robust, more secure, and more scalable than anything SA-Venues had operated before, with true disaster recovery capabilities and ongoing expert management in place. The hospitality sector runs on trust, and SA-Venues never gave their customers a reason to doubt it. As the SA-Venues team put it: "Many words of thanks and appreciation for the timeous responsiveness to queries and requests during all phases of the project."
